The Riverside AstroImaging Workshop is expanding to two days --September 20-21, 2012.
Thursday will be an extended workshop with Tony Hallas the pioneer (and still leader) in image processing. Thursday night, Tim Puckett will conduct a remote imaging session, showing how to automate image acquisition from a far away observatory (or your backyard!).
Friday will have special presentations for both the beginners and the advanced imagers. We do not have the full Friday lineup yet, but have already gotten commitments from
Sean Walker, Imaging Editor from Sky and Tel
Gary Palmer, solar imager extraordinaire,
Fred Espenak, a leader in imaging eclipses and other syzygies
Tim Puckett, who will tell us about remote imaging,
Tony Hallas, who will share more of his processing secrets
Fred Metzler, Canon, DSLR's in AstroImaging
Kevin Nelson, QSI, Shedding Light on CCD's
Tom Bash, General image acquisition and processing
Richard Wright, How to manage an evening's imaging
A detailed program and schedule is not yet available.
This workshop is Thursday and Friday, September 20-21, two days before PATS--the Pacific Astronomy and Telescope Show. We are at the same location in Pasadena, California. RAW2012 attendees may purchase PATS tickets at a reduced price. Many imaging equipment and software vendors will show off their wares at PATS, and you will want to be there.
Thanks to support from our sponsors, and especially Apogee Instruments, who will donate door prizes again this year!
Our small workshops provide time to visit with the presenters and ask questions. You also have time to meet informally with other imagers and share experiences.
Early-Bird registration costs $110 for both days, or you can register for either day separately. Thursday's activities (Tony Hallas extended workshop and Tim Puckett's Remote Imaging Session) will cost $50 for all attendees separately. Friday's sessions will cost $85 for all attendees separately. Those registering for Friday may also attend Tim Puckett's remote imaging session (at no cost) if they are in town Thursday night.
Members of the Riverside Astronomical Society receive a $20 discount when registering for both days. (If you are not a member, you may join the RAS for $20 and receive the discount, making your first year membership "free.") In addition, you will want to join us for lunch at the Paseo Colorado. Registration includes entry in the drawing for more than $5000 in door prizes. Registration can be done online (here) or by mail (here) or on the day of the workshop.
